  you wont discuss your own politics with out a browbeating from old hill.... but eman starts a thread about the us second amendment to it's consitution and all sorts of brits chime in.. for the record... i really dont care about your big-eared prince and his "gnawer"* new bride.... why do ya'all care about my guns?.

  *gnawer.. a woman so ugly that if one woke up in bed (after a drunken night) with her they would gnaw their arm off to escape...rather than chance waking her in the daylight.

  In the old days of the cold war if the US or Soviet Union fired nuclear weapons the the other side would retaliate with all they had. This was called "MAD" Mutually Assured Destruction.

  There is no such defense strategy today. If North Korea, India, Pakistan, Israel, South Africa or even a terrorist group detonates a nuclear bomb it will be devastating for the bomb site but the rest of the world will not be effected.

  i was looking through one of them baby name books, and looked up my name scott to see what its meaning is, i got.

  scott "meaning of scotland" ........ how boring is that!

  i would have prefered "mighty one" or "handsome stud" or something........... still "of scotland" it is...... what about yours?

  Political affiliation after leaving org.

  how long did it take you to decide if you were a liberal or conservative after leaving the organization?

  i find it interesting that even though it took me a number of years to get up the courage to vote, i knew right away i was politically/socially liberal.

  i knew that i had strong feelings about protecting the environment, about civil rights, free speech, etc.

  There is more to politics then just Liberals and Conservatives. After leaving Jehovah's Witnesses I voted Democrat until I discovered the Libertarian Party.

  Libertarians are the heirs of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Libertarian Party shares the same basic values that the Democratic Party had before the populism of William Jennings Bryan and big government nanny statism of Franklyn Roosevelt.

  Grover Cleveland is the last Democratic president that I admire. Calvin Coolidge is the last Republican president I admire.

  i have read in a few places that man has all but stopped evolving.

  is this what is really being taught by science and why?

  Turtles and Crocodiles have changed very little while Horses have changed greatly. Each species evolves at it's own pace. Modern humans have been around for about 100,000 years so that is not very much time for drastic change.

  Tempest in a tea cup. It will not hurt American Idol or Paula Abdul. It will bring more viewers and Corey Clark gets an extra 15 minutes of fame.

  There are women I have had sex with I would rather not tell the public about and I know that some of them feel the same about me.

  i hope this is not a repeat of past threads and i hope to get a lot of response.

  i am compiling info of how people are treated within the wts.

  i just read the post about a person being counseled for having baby shower games.

  I was counseled for having a subscription to Natural History magazine. The Elders said that the Awake! magazine had all the articles about science I needed to read.
  

  I was counseled for telling an Elder that Yiddish is a dialect of medeavel German and although it is written with Hebrew letters Yiddish is not Hebrew. The Elder was shaking with rage that I would dare say he was wrong.

  A brother I knew in Snyder, Texas called a Circuit Overseer "Daddio" the CO was very angry so the next time around the CO was referred to as "Brother Dad"

  What's the last good fantasy or scifi book that you could'nt put down?

  so what's the last fantasy/scifi book that you read that was just so good you could'nt put it down until you were done reading it?

  i need a few recommendations, i'm in the mood for a good book.. for me the last really good scifi book was orson scott card's "ender's game".

  for a long time i avoided this book because i thought it was aimed at a younger audience, but after hearing so many people praise it i finally took a chance on it.

  I could not put down "Battlefield Earth" by L. Ron Hubbard. The movie sucked but the book is great.
